Art tibétain
OBORO
Opening and Dance Show on Saturday May, 28 in the afternoon
This exhibition in two parts intends to show a few facets of contemporary Tibetan art, and further support this community.
Part I: Children's drawings from the Tibetan school in Choglamsar, Ladakh.
This exhibition assembles approximately thirty drawings made by children living in refugee camps of the Ladakh, in India. Organized in Ladakh, the show also includes photographs of these camps and Tibet, the mother land. The exhibition will tour Canada in order to increase the public's awareness of Tibetans' life conditions and in hopes of collecting funds to improve their status.
Part II: Contemporary Buddhist paintings
This section will bring together the works of artists whose paintings are directly inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist tradition while integrating diverse stylistic influences. Losang Gyatso, a Tibetan painter presently living in New York, and Élise Séguin, a local artist who studied painting with a Tibetan master in Katmandu, will participate in the exhibition.
During the vernissage, you will have the occasion to see the renowned dancers of the Tibetan Cultural Association.
OBORO wishes to thank the Canada Tibet Committee for its organizational support.
