Vivre Carré St-Louis
OBORO
Installation/intervention
From August 12 to September 20, the local bypassers of Carré St-Louis will certainly not miss the transformation overtaking its usual look. A Montreal artist has chosen the Carré St-Louis as his latest site for a series of interventions which underline the park's social function while raising various human, and therefore political, questions.
OBORO
The artist – who wishes to use the verb vivre (living) to identify his work – is not presenting his first piece. This project subscribes to a dozen interventions/installations which have taken place in Montreal since 1990. Like his Carré St-Louis installation, these works were created anonymously with minimum financial means for an ultimate visual impact. Keep an eye out for the many interventions which the artist will impose on the Carré St-Louis. Such interventions include the transformation of the fountain, benches, lampposts, and public urinals. You risk running into the author of these works – who will be wearing a white arm band – at any time or place during this period. Also, don’t miss his many white flags fluttering around the city.
