Loly Darcel Peut Être
OBORO
Loly Darcel’s installation is articulated around light’s declination when emanated from various sources: the natural light from the skylights of the gallery, contained within large reservoirs of white cloth; electric light from the lamps on the floor; televisual light from the video monitors; as well as the light of a candle appearing on a cathodic screen. This confrontation of luminous sources induces a questioning of and an interplay with temporality.
The trajectory of the exhibition is experienced under the sign « Peut Être » floating in the center of a blue circle painted on the floor. Suspended above this circle are mirrors which send back our own reflection. This floating image of ourselves becomes a metaphor for our passage through the exhibition. It is a metaphor for both our apprehension of the space an of our concept of time in this media-saturated society. The artist brings us to experiment with the artificiality of our relationship with the real, life and death.
