Érick d’Orion

Érick d’Orion (b.1975) is a curator, sound and new media artist as well as a self-taught composer and musician, based in Montreal since 2015 and previously from Quebec City since 1993. Most of his work with sound focuses on digital maximizing and is closely related to noise, musique concrète, free jazz and electro-acoustic music. In tandem or in parallel he develops installation projects in which sound and new technologies are used together to create works which are both performative and “static.” His current work focuses mostly on reinterpretating, appropriating and re-reading certain art historical concepts, especially musique concrète, Dada and Futurism, however without being stuck in the past. He is a member of the duo morceaux_de_machines, trios BOLD and Napalm Jazz and the Montreal collective Perte de Signal, among other groups, and works closely with La Chambre Blanche, the RCAAQ, Rhizomes Productions, CHYZ, Folie Culture, RAIQ, Dare-Dare, amongst others, as past or present board member. His work has been presented accross North America, Europe, Australia and Cuba.
