Cédric Camier

The work and research of Cédric Camier reflect the dual career path he has pursued: musician and composer on the one hand, acoustic researcher on the other. He completed his doctoral dissertation in Paris (ENSTA and École Polytechnique) on the non-linear vibrations of cymbals, studying the effect of their imperfections as well as their chaotic behavior. Today, Camier is working on a post-doc at the University of Sherbrooke, concentrating on the spatialization of acoustic fields, and particularly the localization of sources and the restitution of sound environments. A graduate of the Conservatoire National de Région de Poitiers (FR) in piano, percussion and drums, and an experienced stage musician, having played in several jazz, contemporary music and live electronic bands in Europe (France, Belgium, Germany, Malta, etc.) and in Quebec, Camier now focuses his artistic production on the exploration of electronic and acoustic forms of music and sound art, as well as on the development of related technological tools.
