Françoise Lavoie-Pilote

Françoise Lavoie-Pilote has a hybrid background, combining literature, poetry, film, videography and interactivity. Her interest in interactive video installations goes back to 1997 and stems from her flair for telling stories, stories that make us dream, throw us off balance and in which we may immerse ourselves, while playing a predominant role. Existing between philosophy, poetry and fiction, Ms. Lavoie-Pilote’s installations expand on themes of intimacy, memory and disappearance. A woman of great creative passion and emotional sensitivity, she leads as much with her head as with her heart in each project she undertakes. She refuses to take the easy way out artistically, and is always probing images for that second level, the level that speaks more to instinct than to the rational mind.
