Mélanie O’Bomsawin

Mélanie O’Bomsawin is a video and new media artist. She also teaches workshops in video recording and audiovisual editing to various age groups. In her art practice, she is interested in valorizing Indigenous heritage and traditions, using video as a conduit between diverse cultures and generations to fight against prejudice. Passionate about new technologies, she constantly seeks out new ways to tell real or invented stories in order to transform how viewers see the world around them. She believes strongly in the reaching power of narrative as a means to reach others, as well as the interdisciplinary and collective potential of new media. She tries to combine her background as a documentary filmmaker with her experience as a multimedia artist. She creates work for past and future generations.
