Job offer: Administrative Director

OBORO is an artist-run centre whose research, production, dissemination and training activities encompass media, digital and visual arts. OBORO is looking to fill the position of Administrative Director. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this person works closely with the General Director and ensures the organisation’s proper administrative and financial functioning. To this end, the Administrative Director develops and implements an administrative strategy; initiates, performs or supervises administrative and accounting tasks; ensures the maintenance and monitoring of the general budget, and sees that the organisation complies with current laws. In collaboration with the General Director, s/he also participates in representing the organisation, ensuring its funding, and managing its human resources. Candidates who have skills or interests that could provide additional input to the organisation, beyond the functions described below, are invited to specify them in their letter of intent.

Main fields of action:
Finance and administration
•    Overall administrative management of the organisation
•    Supervision and/or treatment of accounting and administrative operations
•    Payroll and bookkeeping
•    Production of financial statements and work with the auditor
•    Production of budgets and financial reports
•    Production of various government reports
•    Budgetary monitoring of general and project-specific grants
•    Participation in the writing of grant applications and reports
•    Participation in management of personnel as well as hiring and evaluation procedures
•    Ensuring that the organisation complies with current laws
•    Ensuring that organisational policies are applied and respected

Strategy and Governance (in collaboration with the General Director)
•    Ensure that the organisation meets its mandate and the broad orientations defined by the Board
•    Attend Board meetings and participate in the organisation’s strategic vision
•    Submit recommendations to the Board regarding the organisation’s overall administrative and financial functioning
•    Monitor the evolution of grant programs
•    Make decisions relating to infrastructure (e.g., spaces and equipment)

Required skills and qualifications:
•    Proven financial management skills, including budget planning and management
•    Minimum of three years of administrative experience in an NPO context; in the cultural sector, an asset
•    Bilingualism (the working language is French, fluency in English is required)
•    Very good knowledge of Sage and Employeur D systems
•    Excellent ability to manage priorities and schedules and to work on multiple projects simultaneously
•    Ability to organise and transmit information for multiple uses
•    Computer skills: Mac environment, spreadsheets
•    Communicative person who enjoys working in a team
•    Knowledge of the arts community and understanding of how an artist-run centre works, an asset

Position details:
•    Permanent full-time position (4 days/week)
•    Start date: as soon as possible
•    Salary: according to experience
