What are we saying about the present moment - the moment we live in together, now?
What We Are Saying, Public Recordings' new creation with choreographer Ame Henderson, creates the conditions for communication to emerge as a spontaneous choral conversation. In an open space filled with chairs, an assembly of performers speak and move in unison. They traverse the uncertainty and enter into a dialogue with the audience, where every decision is a group decision, but no one knows what will happen next. As performers and audience access the power of united gesture, What we are saying reveals a vulnerable, comic and courageous humanity that highlights the radical possibility of leaderless unity.
Ame Henderson and Public Recordings are in residence at OBORO to develop the sound axis of their new creation.
The company creates events indicative of its creative and production processes. If a show exposes the curiosity and authentic decisions of its creators, it becomes a catalyst for a new process of meaning generation, undertaken in concert with the audience. Choreographic thinking applied to an emerging choral conversation - what we are saying - suggests that we will bear witness to the evidence of the following premise: discovering how to say together is the way to discover what to say.
