Call for proposals
The next deadline : November 1st 2008
(Exhibition and Events Program, and Research and Production residencies Program)
OBORO welcomes original projects that promote critical thinking and artistic practices. We accept proposals from artists, artist collectives, independent curators and organisations who are looking to present exhibits, and events as well as to produce publications or do a residency.
The programming committee takes into account notions of artistic relevance and excellence, the Montreal context, equity and diversity as well as budgetary aspects. Before sending a proposal, please consult our web site attentively to get a better understanding of the activities we have programmed over the past years. In the case of projects involving considerable technical means, please contact us first in order to determine the availability of resources. OBORO pays artist's rights and fees in accordance with standards set by representative organizations and bodies responsible for collecting royalties.

Procedures for Submission
Please note that all material must be submitted in printed form and include the Submission Form. OBORO accepts proposals in French and English only. Proposals must be clearly typed, and those sent by e-mail or fax will not be accepted.
Also note that all supporting materials must be clearly identified and ready for viewing or listening. On a separate sheet of paper please include an index describing each image or file submitted on CD, DVD, or other format. Please limit the number of images to 20 and send only short excerpts that are significant and representative of your proposal. Computer files on CD or DVD must be clearly identified and easily accessed. General Conditions
In the context of its exhibition and residency programs, OBORO pays artists the rights and royalties corresponding to the tables established by copyright societies.

(1) Projects for which travel fees and transportation of the works exceed CDN$1000 each will need to secure external supplementary funding before they can become eligible to the program.
(2) Artists requiring supplementary equipment for the presentation of their exhibition will receive a 50 % discount on the current costs of any equipment access should they wish to use the resources available at the New Media Lab

Residence and Production Projects
In the context of its research and production residency program, OBORO provides basic technical support (orientation and general guidance). Please be advised that the honoraria for specialized technical assistance (programming, sound engineering, video editing, etc.) are to be paid in full by the artist.
