D.J. Ann-Marie Valérie d. Walker Tine Modeweg-Hansen Cheryl Sim She’s in the Mix

This performance celebrates women and the use of their hands in the creation of art. The focus is on five women: DJ Ann-Marie works the contemporary practice of mixing beats and grooves on turntables in order to create a positive, sonic environment. Valérie d Walker practices the ancient, Japanese art of Shibori, by mixing indigo dyes and tying knots to produce rich textile pieces. Two Montreal painters, Tine Modeweg-Hansen and Natasha Hall create a live painting, taking inspiration from the music and theme of the performance. Cheryl Sim, video artist, records the performances for the creation of a single channel experimental documentary.
