The workshop proposes a series of meetings where current aspects of what is still called "media arts" will be explored. The thorny question of terminology will serve as a starting point, followed by topics as analogue / digital and video, network art and post-Internet concept, sound art, robotics, DIY electronics, and then the technological obsolescence and the Open Source. These themes will be broached through the experience and practice of invited artists which will share, within each workshop, their knowledge of the subject through a presentation / discussion.
We’ll then attempt to bring out issues and broad lines of reflexivity running through current media art, and perhaps even some ideas on what its future might be.
