The world is redefining itself, the signposts of our civilization are crumbling. Conventional landmarks are losing their meaning; we must sound new foghorns, we must light amazing lanterns for an irrevocable world that cannot be sent back to where it began.
In the spring of 2020, Quebec was facing widespread closures due to the pandemic. Aware of the precariousness these closures exerted on artists and workers in the cultural milieu, Avatar chose to maintain its belt function by initiating a new home-based creation platform for audio artists.
In this way, 25 artists were chosen to create a 3-minute work of sound art on the notion of landmarks. These Miniatures were published on the networks at a rate of 3 per week, starting in April 2020. At the same time, 4 other artists each created a 25-30 minute sound Excavation around the same notion. They were published at a rate of one per week from June 3, 2020.
