Nick Steur FREEZE!
© A. Bett, 2017
In partnership with Festival de Casteliers
As a child Nick Steur played a lot with pebbles. At a crucial time in his artistic career he rediscovered the material and created a mind-boggling stone sculpture performance. There’s no glue, cement or trick involved – it’s all about focus and “finding balance between your own force of will, and that of the stone”. The audience, fully captivated, loses track of time. Artist and audience share the same intense focus and experience. FREEZE! is an invitation to discover that true happiness lies in the luxury of concentrating on one thing at a time. Each performance is unique. Each and every balanced sculpture is improvised and in tune with the location and the audience.
