Making good use of their shared neighbourhood and common patronage of the arts, Georges Laoun Opticien and OBORO have come together 4 years ago to create this prize. Four finalists receive $100 in cash, and the winner is offered a prize of $500 in cash and $1,500 of access to OBORO’s New Media Lab equipment and studios.
From November 19 to December 2, 2013, the five finalists’ videos were screened in the storefront of Georges Laoun Opticien located at 4012 Saint-Denis Street in Montréal, in the purpose of bringing new media art into the community of the Plateau Mont-Royal. The finalists were:
Guillaume Adjutor Provost
Pierre Blache
Robert Chayer
Garry-Lewis James Osterberg
Chris Lloyd
The winner was announced at the launch cocktail : our congratulations to Chris Lloyd.
Georges Laoun Opticien was awarded the 2010 prix Art-Affaires by the Montreal Arts Council for the involvement in this project. The prize will be back next year. While you’re waiting for our call for proposals, have a look at this year’s finalists’ videos.
The finalist videos will be shown there until December 2, 2013.
