Videoconference Event on Friday, October 15, 1999, at 9 pm at Concordia University. Presented in collaboration with the the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information (iSchool) and the Gertrude Stein Repertory Theatre de New York
Janeil Engelstad and Deborah Bennett explore notions of Canadian identity with young artists and students, between the ages of 15 and 25, living in different cultural and economic communities in Montréal and Toronto. Each participant first made a video piece and then, paired off into teams from both cities, exchanged tapes pursuing their dialogue over a few months. The two groups then met weekly through videoconferencing to continue their exchange.
A public videoconference event with Toronto and New York followed at Concordia University and an edited version of the video documents produced by the youth was exhibited at OBORO and Georges Laoun.
