Le 4001 Berri: a vital, inclusive artistic ecosystem in Montreal

A unique cultural venue in the heart of the Plateau-Mont-Royal, Le 4001 Berri has established itself as a hub for creation, dissemination and collaboration in the fields of visual, digital and media arts in Montreal. The group brings together five recognised arts organisations - OBORO, Groupe Intervention Vidéo (GIV), Ada X, SBC Contemporary Art Gallery and Centre Turbine – who share a common vision: to make art accessible to all, in an open and inclusive space. This collective project aims to offer artists and audiences from diverse backgrounds a vibrant space for creation, presentation and learning. More than just a building, Le 4001 Berri came into being in 2023 with a founding mission: to save Le 4001 Berri from the threat of real estate market speculation, and to preserve it as a hotspot for contemporary art.
"Much more than a simple infrastructure, Le 4001 Berri acts as a catalyst for social transformation. It's a dynamic space that fosters access to art, a diversity of voices and the emergence of new creative expressions," assert the group's directors. “It's imperative that government bodies recognise the importance of supporting projects like ours, which promote the democratisation of culture and local artistic development”.
