L’école buissonnière
OBORO
Special projection and conference by M.M. Cron on Wednesday, March 23, at 8 pm
Invited by OBORO to curate a video art exhibition, the critic Marie-Michèle Cron has chosen to present the works of young videographers completing their university studies in Montreal. An essay by Ms. Cron will accompany the exhibition.
Within discourses centering around significant artistic propositions, Montréal video productions in the university context demonstrates a variety of attitudes and approaches that should be examined and encouraged. While "young" authors explore, reinterpret and question the essence of photography, video proliferates in the sidelines, not only as a tool of knowledge and apprehension of the world - but also as an intrinsically oblique, polysemic and heterogeneous medium. How do new generations of videographers use this tool? What are the affinities and apparent contrasts which link them? A first look will circumscribe new voices and give them, in another forum than the university, the opportunity to take the floor. M.M.C.
