Born in Japan, in 1961, Yoko Takashima currently lives and works in Victoria, B.C. She holds a B.F.A. from the University of Lethbridge and a M.F.A. from the University of Victoria. Since 1992, her work has been featured in important Canadian and international group exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions such as Conceal/Reveal, SITE Santa Fe, Topographies: Aspect of Recent B.C. Art, held at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and Bonn Videonale 7 in Bonn, Germany.
Sylvie Fortin is Curator of Contemporary Art at the Ottawa Art Gallery since 1996. She has curated a number of exhibitions, among the most recent: Rob Thompson: Dark Ages, Mike MacDonald: Touched by the Tears of a Butterfly and The Night Has a Thousand Eyes, featuring the work of Keith Piper and Ramona Ramlochand. She has written catalogue essays for Canadian, American and European publications and reviews for Parachute, Parallelogramme, Etc Montréal, Inter, Matriart amd Espace. She is also a Contributing Editor of Fuse.
