je t’ai entendu·e chanter derrière moi / tu as caressé le mur / nous avons pris la même bouchée is a fictional in situ work combining sound, video, and performance that overlays the gallery's everyday experience. During this three-week research residency, the artist films and records an invented, imagined life unfolding within the exhibition space: gestures of coming into contact with the gallery's architectural materiality, intimate bodily exchanges, the activation of sonic materials through touch, bodies discovering their relationship to the site, songs... Drawing on these multiple recordings of intimate encounters with the gallery, fully embracing its sonic, visual, and architectural characteristics, the project proposes a new imaginary of moments of being together in space.
The sound and video material will then be reworked to integrate seamlessly with the exhibition environment: creating realistic simultaneities, transitions between the different projections, broadcasting live sounds into the space that intermingle with binaural recordings accessible through headphones, and so on. The work in development seeks to produce an immersive whole in which multiple projections and screens are conceived as a single large stage, punctuated by in situ performative activations that are brought into dialogue with the sound and video sequences in ways that unsettle the viewer's sense of whether the images belong to the present moment—or not.

Julie Faubert is a visual and sound artist. Her artistic projects have taken shape in exhibition centres (Je ne raconte pas d’histoires, Sporobole, 2014; ROMA, Galerie des arts visuels, 2023), in the street (Les Mots, Dare-Dare, 2010), in a traditional print workshop (Estar aqui, Invisible Places / Sounding Cities, Viseu, Portugal, 2014), in a national library (Site-Specific Sound Pieces at the Grande Bibliothèque, Montreal, 2016), in public squares (La Table, former Claude-Jutra Park, Studio XX, Montreal, 2016; Lotto XII – Garbatella, Suonare la città, Rome, 2025), in a former Berlin squat (NOW, ausland, Berlin, 2018), on a restaurant terrace (El Cocinero, Artista X Artista, Havana, 2020; Le Festin, L’Œil de poisson, 2021), and, more recently, in the darkened auditorium of a movie theatre (Cinéma moderne, November 2023; Nous sommes au cinéma, 2024 – Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal, 2023–2024). She recently published On y arrive à deux, à trois. On y arrive seule, habitée par les événements du monde, un livre-expérience (March 2026). She is a professor at the School of Art at Université Laval.
